Watercolour Stencil Backgrounds

Darkroom Door - Thursday, April 04, 2019

Hi there, Jane here from Miss Jane's Classroom. Today I'm sharing a card created with the small Diamonds Stencil. This card is the closest I can get to doing an 'Arty' card I reckon! I used watercolour paints and the result can be quite unpredictable and messy, so it’s a lot of fun!

Instructions:
To make this card I applied watercolour paints directly to the Darkroom Door Small Diamonds Stencil, they were heavily concentrated because I wanted it to be bright and rich in colour. I placed the stencil on watercolour card face down, I let it sit there for a few minutes so the colours would penetrate the card. I did lift the stencil and a few areas hadn't transferred, so I spray the stencil with water and placed it down on the watercolour card again which worked. Although it doesn’t matter if there’s patchy spots, that just adds to the arty effect!

I stamped the flower from the Fine Flowers Stamp Set on more watercolour card with StazOn jet black in, gave the image a quick wash of watercolour. I wanted it to be incomplete a little just like the background. The sentiment is from Friendship Sentiment Stamps.

Supplies used:
Darkroom Door Small Diamonds Stencil
Darkroom Door Fine Flowers Vol 1 Stamp Set
Darkroom Door Friendship Sentiments Stamp
Watercolour Paints
StazOn Jet Black Ink Pad
Water Mister Bottle
Watercolour Cardstock

I think I'll go and make more as it was a lot of fun!

Happy stamping
Miss Jane
