Enjoy Life Art Journal Page

Darkroom Door - Wednesday, April 25, 2018

Hi there! It's Rachel Greig here today to share an art journal page using gel printed backgrounds in my Dina Wakley Media journal. This journal has different surfaces to work on and this spread uses a watercolour page and a canvas page.

To create the background on the left side (the watercolour surface), I spritzed the large Polka Dots stencil with Spiced Marmalade Dylusions ink spray before placing it onto a large gel plate face down so the ink went onto the gel plate. Then I squeezed out some Lime Dina Wakley Media paint and brayered over the entire surface so the lime would go into the open circle areas. Lift off the stencil and then place the gel plate directly onto the watercolour page to make the print. The print will show the orange and the green colours.

On the right side (the canvas surface) I used the round gel plate to create three circle prints with the same Lime paint. Draw around them with a black Scribble Stick. Stamp inside the circles using quotes from the Enjoy Life and Amsterdam Vol 2 stamp sets using Archival Jet Black ink.

Back onto the left side, I adhered some painted torn sheet music to the page using Gel Medium. The tag was created using the crayon resist technique using the French Script Background Stamp and the Wings stamp set with Distress Inks. Tie some ribbon at the top of the tag and adhere to the journal page. To finish the page I hand wrote some text at the top and bottom of the sheet music.

Great jl page.
Spiced Marmalade is a Distress color, is that what you used? Or Dylusios..which could be Tangerine Dream?

What a fabulous journal and two beautiful pages. I finally pulled out a journal this week to work on some pages. It's been a while.
